Agreements & Registration
for psilocybin ceremony
Agreements:
These are Harmala Temple's agreements. We will review them again before ceremony and verify all who are present agree to these guidelines. These agreements are standard across shamanic and facilitated plant medicine ceremonies and are agreed upon in order to maintain both a safe and supported environment for the community. Please feel into if you are in alignment with them and if you have any questions, please connect.

NOTE REGARDING SSRI MEDICATIONS: It is important to note that while SSRI medications may not be inherently dangerous to take with psilocybin as it is with other plant medicines such as Ayahuasca, the two chemicals have the opposite effect on the brain which can lead to many participants having their experience diminished or not have an experience at all. Therefore, we recommend if the participant feels comfortable, to taper down or off the medication in the days or weeks prior to ceremony, safely, under the guidance of his or her doctor.

Reverence:
Ceremony is a celebration, intended to bring us joy and we include time for social connection and nourishment after we close the facilitated portion of our gatherings. That being said, it is important to honor your own process, give yourself quiet and stillness and be respectful of the needs of your fellow gatherers. After closing, we agree to keep the volume low and the energy calm both inside and outside the home temple.

Nourishment:
We agree to bring only light, whole, healthy foods to nourish ourselves or to share after the close of ceremony. We agree to test our appetite with water first as the medicine may come in waves and we may not be ready to eat until we have further processed or until the morning. Extending the fast can be a powerful way to extend the journey. Honor your body temple in what s/he needs.
Caregiving:
We agree to trust the facilitators. Thank you for trusting us. If we ask you to do something, please trust us that is in yours and the groups best interest. If we do so, you are not "in trouble"- it is our job to serve and protect each gatherer and the ceremonial space.
Talking:
We agree this is a sound and silence meditation experience. Talking can bring someone out of a journey space, so this is a non-talking ceremony. Talking pierces the container. We will have time to connect with words after we close, but we will keep in mind that people may still be journeying, so we will respect the container by not talking too loudly inside the house with journeyers present. You are however, more than welcome and encouraged to sing!
Personal Boundaries:
We agree to respect the space of others. We ask that you do not touch anyone else, or interfere with anyone else’s personal space or belongings. Do not start a conversation with your neighbor, which goes into the non-talking aspect.
Cellphones:
We agree that cell phones will be turned off or put on airplane mode, put away and not interacted with during the ceremony. We strongly encourage they be stowed away until the next day, as energies from outside the container and news feeds/texts/notifications can come into your journey energetically and throw you off. It is important that we do not reach out to the outside world in this vulnerable time. If we have a heart share that we are dying to share with a friend or family member, write it down in a notebook and wait until the next day to reach out. This is your chance to disconnect from electronics and outside stimulation and to gift yourself that deep inner connection.

Confidentiality:
We agree that whatever happens here, stays here. We do not share the personal information of others, “so and so had this experience” or “so and so said this particular thing came up for them”. It is ok to take pictures of the space prior to ceremony, but please get consent if other gatherers are in your photos and please be mindful of hashtags if posting on social media (Ok: #meditation #ceremony Refrain From: #psychedelics #magicmushrooms).

Controlled Substances:
We agree to hold great reverence for this plant medicine for its healing properties. We agree not to consume any other controlled substances the day of, prior to, or during the ceremony. Tobacco and Cannabis are allowed to be consumed on the back patio after the close of ceremony if desired, however you may wish to simply observe the effects of the respected plant medicine of the gathering.
Space Boundaries:
We agree the boundaries for the gathering is the downstairs of the home temple and the backyard. The boundary ends at the side alleys that lead to the sidegate and the path to the garage. We ask that you stay within these boundaries for the duration of the gathering.

Staying the night:
We agree that we are all staying the night and for the share circle in the morning. We feel that this 'sharemony' is as important as the ceremony itself. It is the transition into your integration.

Again, thank you for trusting us. We look forward to gathering with you!
